(Latin Heat Online) - TNT has announced a third season of cop drama Southland, to begin airing in January 2011, with Alyssa Diaz returning as Mercedes Moretta, a role she introduced in the limited edition, Season Two TeleVISION by Julio Martinez
ALYSSA DIAZ ON THE MOVE…When the NBC cop drama Southland, got unceremoniously booted of CBS in the fall of 2009, it found a home on TNT Cable. Now after airing new episodes in January 2010, the cabler has announced a third season, to begin airing in January 2011. “And I am on it,” proclaims Alyssa Diaz, who will be recurring in the role of Mercedes Moretta, a role she introduced in the limited edition, Season Two.

“Currently, the most prominent news for me is the premiere of The Jensen Project (airing Friday, July 16 on NBC, 8pm). This is an MOW, starring Patricia Richardson, LeVar Burtonand Kellie Martin, funded by Procter & Gamble. Depending how the movie does with the ratings, this could be a series and I would be a regular.” Diaz, who is a gifted vocalist, has recorded an original song for the film, produced by Randy Jackson, that will be released as part of the soundtrack of the film’s DVD, being released on July 17. 

Diaz, who is of Colombian and Mexican descent, is proud to have been born and raised in Los Angeles, having first gained prominence on the daytime drama, As the World Turns (2005), portraying sexy teen, Celia Ortega. Since then, she has guest starred on CSI:NY and Greek, as well as enjoying feature roles in such films such as: How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer(2005); Oh Baby! (2008) and Ben 10: Alien Swarm (2009).
